DISPLAY FUNCTIONS MODE

DEFINITION

For a LaserJet II or newer printer, display functions
will cause the printer to print out all of the control
codes and escape sequences instead of executing them.
To turn on display functions mode, create a file in a
text editor and copy the file to the printer. The
following example is created in EDIT.

TURN ON DISPLAY FUNCTIONS

LEGEND: Ec = [Ctrl] [P] [Esc] in DOS EDIT

At the DOS prompt, C:> type EDIT to go into the DOS
editor followed by a filename of your choice, then
     enter the following PCL commands.

     EcE Printer Reset

Ec&s0C Enables end of line wrap

     Ec(10U Identifies the PC-8
                                   symbol set

     EcY Turns on display
                                   functions

You can either print the file from EDIT or save and
exit back to the DOS prompt and copy the file to the
printer. Now send a job to the printer.

Graphic characters will appear showing the commands
     your printer has received.

To turn off display functions you can: do a 09 RESET
on the printer, turn the printer off and back on, or
send a Display Functions Off Code.
